When I first met with Jess & Josh in November of 2017, I had no idea they were getting married in Ohio. Upon learning this, I joked that it would be my first "destination wedding" of the year. They quickly laughed at this, teasing Ohio for being mostly farm country and warning me not to get my hopes up. This became a running joke up until the day of the wedding, when I finally arrived in Ohio to make my own judgement.

The verdict: it's pretty freaking awesome.

I honestly had the most wonderful time during my 48-hour stint in Ohio. Over the course of 4 days of travel and prep for the wedding, I drove for 24 hours and took photos for 12 hours. I think I slept at some point during those days, too, but I honestly can't say for sure.

ANYWAY, I loved every single second I spent there, especially because Jess, Josh, and their families and friends were some of the most kind and welcoming people I have ever met. I stayed with Josh's family and slept across the hall from him and his brothers the night before the wedding. I had never experienced this kind of hospitality before. I try to be a fun wedding photographer, sure, but that doesn't mean I get invited to sleep in the childhood home of the groom. It instantly put me at ease and made me feel like part of the family.

The wedding day itself was breathtaking. Every minute was filled with heartwarming, tear jerking, and jaw-dropping moments. It seemed like everywhere I turned contained another moment worth documenting. It was a wildly fun day and I am so grateful I got to be a part of it.

Jess & Josh - thanks for trusting me with your special day. I love how this "destination wedding" turned out.
